Question for school governors

Jamrollypolly · 17/09/2014 21:51

Is it a statutory duty for schools to present an annual safeguarding report to governors? Does anyone have any links to current guidance? I went on a course recently but they are being very slow to send the hand outs.

Thanks in advance

I don't think it's a statutory duty.

Here are two links anyway:-

The Ofsted Paper on Safeguarding has been updated for inspections carried out from September 2014.

Governing bodies should ensure that they are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities for safeguarding and ensure that the policies, procedures and training offered in their schools and colleges are effective and comply with the law at all times.

The briefing needs to be read alongside the DfE Keeping children safe in education. (April 2014)

Inspecting safeguarding in maintained schools and academies. (Sept 2014)
