Maternity leave and contact from school.

I was signed off by my doctor after half term and the school have started my mat leave. No problems there.
However, how much contact should the school be having with me?
I've had several letters and phone calls demanding I formation that due to my absence I'm not in a position to provide.
For example, before I was signed off I was up to date with pupil assessments( provided levels for classes for 1st part of Autumn term).
I've been absent for all of this half term so far and they want me to supply data for pupils whose progress I can't measure.
I basically want to know what can they reasonably bother me for and what I'm responsible for whilst I'm on Mat leave.

Not an employment lawyer or HR professional

You might be better moving this thread to employment but as far as I know, you can do up to 10 keeping in touch days and be paid for them without "cancelling" your maternity leave, but KIT days are for you and your employer to agree, no obligation on either party.

So they cannot require you to work unless you want to. Separately, what they are asking you for seems illogical - you don't have this data!

Are you in a union?

You are not responsible for anything while you are on maternity leave.

If you were completely up to date when you went off sick, whoever has been covering your classes should be responsible for information they require.

Have you spoken to your Head or whoever your immediate line manager is and explained and asked not to be contacted about this again?

By the way, when did the sick part turn into mat leave, as the answer might be a bit different for sick leave.

Thank you Flowery.
I was up to date and working with my Mat cover to ensure a smooth transition.
My note from the doctor runs out at the end of this week and the school placed me on Mat leave on Friday of last week.

I just wonder if/how this makes you worried that the mat cover is not working well. If I were you, I would be finding out what has gone wrong (why do they need your help). I am sorry if I was too idealistic. I have no intention to criticise OP at all. It just that my DD has had awful experience of having numerous teachers/supply teachers who seemed not communicating well with each other, thus affecting the DCs' learning very badly for a good few years.

Sorry that happened to you, herdream, but OP handed stuff over and is now on maternity leave with her own child, plus she doesn't have the data as she isn't there.

Talk to your union. That, and email back to say that as you haven't been in school for the last half term, you won't know if they've made progress or not!

Then don't!

OP if your Mat cover is struggling this is your/their line managers responsibility. YOU are on mat leave, you are not obligated to do anything school related. Just as anyone in any other profession isn't obligated to do anything work related.
