Inviting Elderly Folk in for School Lunch

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me? Uptake of school lunches in my local area is not great. Meals on Wheels services to the infirm have been cut. It seems obvious that extra capacity in school kitchens could be used to cook for the elderly. Additionally, elderly people having lunch at school would provide social interaction for both age groups and hopefully lead to mutually fulfilling relationships within the community. Does anyone know if this is happening anywhere? I'd love to hear your stories so that we can use examples when approaching our local schools. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, tethersend - I hadn't heard about Aggies Grannies - it looks like a great project and the links are also interesting.

Wow, it could be great...but, those might have to be some robust elderly people!
