The litter tray

Soil in litter tray?

Is this a ridiculous idea?

GinCat has 24/7 access outdoors so doesn't use a litter tray, but I have one from his settling-in days. I don't buy litter anymore though.

Would it be okay to just use soil in it for the few days around bonfire night when I want to keep him in overnight? It seems so silly to buy litter for a few uses when he uses soil outside normally Confused

If that's the only problem with it, I think I'd be okay with it. We are farmers and forever traipsing mud and anything else around the house - the floors are designed to hide the dirt be easily cleaned Grin

I'd buy a small bag of litter and have that as the base. Soil, by itself, can become very muddy and tight. There's a reason people don't use it as a commonplace thing.
