Does anyone feed their cat raw food? If anyone has experience what do you feed and have you fed a kitten raw food? Ta!

Just curious about logistics, do people who feed raw have a huge freezer stash? How do you know the balance of nutrients is right?

Hi both. I'm a big advocate for raw as it massively improved the health of my sickly shelter cat. She was ill and malnourished for a long time, with bad colitis, but now she is thriving and everyone comments on her thick glossy coat. I order it prepared from nature's menu so the balance is right, and I'm lucky to have a large freezer so I can devote a drawer to cat food. She does not need as much as the recommendations suggest to maintain her weight, and the cost works out roughly a pound a day, with free delivery when you buy in bulk. I do want to transition my other cat to it eventually but she's the sort to go hungry rather than get her preferred food (in the preferred bowl, in the preferred spot at the correct time!) so haven't got very far yet. Here is the site: naturesmenu.co.uk

Being pernickety I could say the cost of freezer & ... microwave? heating should be counted too, but can't be more than a few pennies per day combined.

That sounds manageable. I just calculated feeding costs me 60p/day per cat.

I don't microwave, I just let it defrost in a covered bowl in the fridge. I guess you could microwave on the defrost setting if you wanted to, though.
