Wet Food Confusion! Help?

Northumberlandlass · 21/08/2015 09:47

So my beautiful girl has settled in & her character is beginning to shine Smile

When we adopted her she had a mix of dry & wet food, which we are continuing.

I had bought Applaws tins, which she adores, but proving costly. Bought Purely from Pets at Home yesterday & I swear if she could talk the air would be blue!

So my question is, I would like at least 50% meat (chunks not pate) not necessarily cheap, but less expensive than applaws. Any ideas/ recommendations?
Or is it a case of buying in bulk when on offer?

Thanks

Oh dear. She obviously wishes to continue the lifestyle of very posh food to which she has become accustomed. I don't have any recommendations I'm afraid. All mine get fed on Butchers Classic tins and they can either like it or lump it.

My cat likes the butchers classic stuff, but also you can try Zooplus and see if there's anything she likes on there. Bozita? Animonda Carne?
My cat had some Gourmet Perle on offer which he loved and now turns his nose up at other stuff. I am trying to change his mind.

They have ways of manipulating you. They can make you feel so mean.

Bozita chunks on zoo plus is non-pate but quite a few they sell are pate types. I've been trying to wean my two off stuff with grain in it and they will eat Sheba fine flakes and thrive complete but turn their noses up at anything else and probably secretly long for felix.

Mine like Encore pouches, they are high meat, work out at about 90p each though, not cheap. You can get single ones in Sainsburys to try out.

Which applaws are you feeding? Most are complementary not complete.

If it's the shredded chicken type then you may struggle to get similar, cosmo from zoo plus have some complete food.

As a PP said, zoo plus is your best bet

Royal Canin was the best one for furry friend. It's expensive but very meaty, and cheaper than Applaws (IIRC) and you can get it on offer quite often.

Have a look on Zooplus, you can bulk buy.

Mine will only eat Gourmet Pearl, she wolfs it down whereas before she nibbled around the bowl. She has Whiskas dry as well in between meals.

Applaws natural in the 65g tins, she has grain free dry inbetween.
She was used to this timing when we adopted her, so have kept it.

I'll have a look at Zooplus, thanks!

If you want a shredded chicken type that is complete and grain free then I recommend Thrive Complete, however it's in little tins so works out expensive. I get it from Zooplus but also Ocado stock it (at a higher price)

If you have a Home Bargains/Quality Save near you, they often sell a brand called Feline Fayre which is about 50% fish (tuna + salmon/seafood platter/ocean fish) and their prices are very cheap. I used to feed it to my cat until we tried some Applaws and now he will eat nothing but Applaws (although PaH is expensive - I have found it cheaper in my local pet shop)

Have you tried Lily's Kitchen?

Thanks everyone! I shall definitely have a look at your suggestions.
She is happy this morning as it's Applaws tuna & prawns!!

Actually started eating, turned to me & purred. I'm being taken for such a mug Smile
