The litter tray

Right-oh, this is killing me, but I need to ask for help...

I have two pedigree cats (sorry)

One of whom has 'separation anxiety disorder' and the other is totally fucking confused...all the bloody time.

I adore them.

One is female. T'other is male. Both are 'eunuchs'

And beautiful. We are, in a cat defined way, a little bit pissed off with life.

It has to be said that, until I got divorced, me and the cats were 'cool with shit'.

However, we are now coming to terms with being impoverished.

So far, I can cope. I'm trying to find a future, and home, with my two cats. This is not easy...

But it's now got a whole lot more complicated.

Both have fallen in love with a Farm Cat.

I mean they really, really love him. They even invite him into the house. And wash him. And chat to him. They are totally smitten with him. Both of them.

Said Farm Cat has very small eyes. Mine have strikingly large eyes.

Said Farm Cat has a stumpy tail. Mine have gloriously long tails.

Farm cat has ginger patches. Mine are full colour.

But they fucking love him.

Farm Cat is clearly poorly.

Farm Cat is not a eunuch.

Over the last month, Farm Cat has managed to get within two feet of me.

But Boy Cat has clearly be observing Farm Cat, and is now pissing all over the house.

Help!

I'm not sure what your question is.

You have a stray coming in who's unneutered who is peeing all over and in need of a vet and your resident boy is marking his territory?

Are you sure Boy Cat is in love with him? Pissing all over may indicate he doesn't like Farm Cat invading his territory! Can Farm Cat get in the house? Would Farm Cat like to stay?

Boy cat is pissing all over the house. He's always had a 'toilet disorder' which is manageable. As in, I know his 'isms' and can accommodate them. That means having permanently clean litter trays. A lot of them.

Boy cat luuuurves Farm Cat. I mean really loves him. I mean really, really loves him.

So has started spraying too. Everywhere.

But he utterly loves Farm Cat. So does T'other cat. All the other cats get seen off, but Farm Cat gets huddled and cuddled. It's hard to explain - but they've 'adopted' him.

I would chase him off (and indeed tried), but my two have totally fallen for him.

So what to do? Try to trap Farm Cat and cart him off to vets, remove balls, get him treated for whatever ailments...or intercept his love for him with my cats? I do feel a little snobbish about chasing him off.

However, my house smells of cat spray.

So, adopt Farm Cat? If so, how? Farm Cat lurves my cats. Not very sure about me.

I don't understand what help you're asking for either. Are you thinking about moving house and wondering whether to take Farm Cat with you? Are you asking if you should be encouraging this friendship? Are you asking for help with the sudden pissing?

Firstly if Farm Cat is poorly can you get him to a vet? You'd have to borrow a trap but it can be done. And get him neutered at the same time. When he's neutered he will probably seem less of a threat and hopefully the pissing will stop.

Epic cross post in fact. What you suggested is exactly what I suggested!

You can get rid of the smell of cat spray with Simple Solution from Pets at Home or, more cheaply, with white vinegar. I'm fairly confident what once he's done it will all settle. You could also try a Feliway plug-in.

Oh and he'll get used to you eventually. He may even become tame and loving. You never know.

Yep, given the choice, I'd bring him into the home...it's just that when he crosses the threshold...

...he soils himself.

Because as much as my two love him...he is shit scared of me. Literally.

So, given there's no money in my account to trap him and get him sorted, yet clearly, my two love him, it's a case of I'll find the money, if I can find a way to tame him sufficiently.

As I say, in two months, he's gotten within two feet of me. We should be leaving here in a couple of months, and I'll be leaving Farm Cat behind unless I can figure out something different.

And Boy Cat, who is gay, and always has been, luuuurves him. But the emulation spraying...I am not happy about. So I can't be dealing with two sprayers...

So it's a case of do I persevere with Farm Cat or do I shut the doors and deal with Boy Cat.

Persevere with FarmCat. I couldn't bear the thought of a little broken feline heart wondering why his BFFs have deserted him Sad

Are there any cat rescues locally? They may lend you a trap, and help with neutering and vet bills. Even if you decide not to keep him, that's something you could do for him. If you do keep him, there's loads of people on here with experience of taming ferals that will give you advice.Building up trust with food's a good start, working up to hand feeding him.

I know you say both resident cats are very accepting of him, but they will feel threatened by the smell of an entire male - hence pissing contest.
