I've just noticed that dcat1's whiskers have gone white .. The bit nearest the roots is still black but the colour's gone from the rest

She's 14 so I suppose it's a sign of ageing Sad

Hmm, have just inspected Archcat closely which disturbed the poor lad immensely and he seems to have three or four hairs on each side with a black root of about 1 cm, then white. All the rest of the hairs are only white. He's a brown/grey tabby, but all his normal body fur is black underneath, even on the light patches. 3 years old, so not due to age.

Tuxedo cats (twins) both have always had white whiskers.

MCat, a tuxedo, has long white whiskers. If I find them shed around the house, I save them in a box. Grin

Little Monsieur, who's a Devon Rex, doesn't really have whiskers. Because they're curly and brittle, they snap off. Looks like designer stubble. Which is white.

Old mog, somewhere around 16 / 17, (rescue) - black to match coat with one jaunty white one....

White. She was a tortie tabby. But every so often a black upturned one would appear. Like Hercule Poirot.

Hmm so not age-related then ... Why've they changed colour - should I be worried?

Two tone. Black at the root end, white at the tip. Previously all black.
The tortie girl has some white, some ginger an a few black whiskers. She is vvv pretty and has delightful spotty paws.

The posh arrogant boy has tone whiskers in the colours of his points. The tail less wonders whiskers are all black apart from one which is white.

I had an all-black cat, with black whiskers (for most of her life.) Then one grew white. For a few years she had just one white, the rest black. As she got old, more and more came through white, along with a sprinkling of white in her general fur. I'm sure it's just an age thing.

Mostly white, except for two, which start off black, then go white.
