awful video clipYouTube with cats...

dd and i love watching the funny video clips on you tube however i just saw a few, as part of a compilation that were bloody awful. one, a bloke was holding his cat who was clearly scared, as a machine gun (if that makes any sense) whilst laughing. The other, consisted of a baby sat on a bed with a cat whilst being encouraged by its mother (who was filming) to antagonise the cat which in turn was scratching the baby. Then the mother tells the baby (in russian apparently, as per someone saying in the comments section below) to hit the cat so the baby WACKS the cat hard across the head, que the cat going for the baby. Baby falls off the bed whilst the mother, still obviously filming LAUGHS. I can't believe how angry and upset i am for both the cat and the baby. What sort of mother encourages her baby to hit a cat and at the same time allows the cat to continuously scratch/bite the baby whilst the baby is CRYING Angry

Many people are cruel to other living things, usually ones which they can dominate and which can't easily fight back. It's a sickness - and one which the internet makes easier to spread and perpetuate.

I'd be reporting to site moderators if I could and otherwise not giving them any publicity by watching them and talking about them.

I hope your DD was OK.

my dd didn't see this, fortunately. i have bought a kitten and have thus been on youtube alot to learn more about these particular types of cats (grooming), somehow i ended up watching the cute cat videos. i am pleased she didn't see these, i have never seen nasty ones before, all of them are just ordinary cute type videos ie a cat sleeping in a funny position, etc

I came across the machine gun one when looking at funny/cute cat clips.

It disgusted me too.

Congratulations on your new kitten! The time will drag though, while you're waiting to bring him home. I reserved mine when he was a week old. The next 12 weeks went very slowly indeed.

Is there any way or system for reporting those clips to YouTube?

i don't know but there were ALOT of comments from other people equally disgusted. tbh i wouldn't have watched the compilation if i had know that those two stinkers were in there, they didn't belong as the other videos were brilliant (barmy cats playing being cats). rubbish i would have had her sooner although dh is away and i work alot here and there (self employed, weird hours) and didn't want her left at home alone. she is beautiful, bundle of white fluff, calling her Mabel :0)

thank you :0) i haven't even held her yet. owners were very protective, didn't want her or their other cats 'infected with my filth' Grin although i admire their way of thinking, that says to me that they are being good parents to her until she comes to live with us

Having said that, she also looks like a kitten who'll have you all under the paw by the end of the week. (And Yes - I do know it's already Thursday.) That's a very determined little face there.

'infected with your filth' ?

Sheez. There's protective and then there's positively barmy.

i've been on ebay looking to see what are the more favoured cats games on the market. my previous cat was only ever interested in the laser pen although after a few months i think dd and i had more fun with it than she did Grin. so far i have come up with a meow (not sure about it) and a plastic tube thing with a mouse inside. i have invested in a flying frenzy and you lot on her rave about it...

Is the meow thing called The Cat's Meow? If so, there's been some good reports about it on here.

When I brought MKitten home, he came out of his box and played with the Flying Frenzy for 2 hours straight.

When I first posted a photo of him on here, Cozie said "He'll have you under the paw, you've got your work cut out with that one".

You were right Cozie.

Best advice is to tire her out with lots of games. Which it sounds like you're planning to anyway.

Chinchilla Persian!!
I love these, so beautiful.

Needs daily grooming, make sure you read up on grooming technique as it's easy with such s thick coat to brush but not get far enough in and the coat to mat which is very painful.

thanks ladies. butthole yes, i spent, no joke, four days last week GLUED to the internet absorbing, like a piece of kitchen towel, info' on persians/kittens. my previous cat was long haired but not in the same league as this one. i have been watching NUMEROUS youtube experts show how to comb, clean eyes, etc as well as clipping tips of claws whilst avoiding the quick etc etc. my other cat loved me combing her, loved it. one of the reasons i wanted a kitten was so that i could (hopefully) get it used to the routine rather than have to pay £80 for a groomer to do it...we used a groomer once as our cat had some mats (shortly after we rescued her). she ended up getting (probably from the groomers...) ring worm. NIGHTMARE....
