Fleas 'again' and Stronghold

We have 3 cats. We treat them every month around the first with Stronghold bought from the vet and have done since we got them all in 2013.

At the start of August, one started to noticeably over groom. I treated the house with 'RIP Flea' from the vet.

After no improvement I took the cat for a check up towards the end of August.

Vet said she seemed clear of fleas and it was probably stress related. Gave her a steroid shot and sent us on our way. It seemed to work.

In early September as it was a month since first spraying the house, I did it again with Indorex from an animal supplies shop (was getting chicken stuff). By mid September the cat was over grooming again noticeably.

I defleaed them again on 1st October and as ScrattyCat was sat next to me, I spotted fleas - several if them crawling about her bald patches. I took her outside and with ds and a nit comb, we removed probably 30+ live fleas!

I rang the vet to question if they'd had a dodgy batch of Stronghold and was told she had fleas because she goes outside Hmm.

So clearly I have a flea infestation in the house. I know I didn't vacuum daily between spraying the house but even so, should I expect to see so many happy jumpy fleas on treated cats?

My next plan is to get pest control in but should I be doing more to treat the actual cats please?

You could get an injection that stops fleas breeding, then the house won't get infested.

You could try Advocate?.

Thanks Fluffycloud, should the vet know about the injection? I will be going to collect some Advocate to try but I was told I have to wait 14days from when I applied the Stronghold so it will be next week.

Right, all 3 cats booked in for the flea sterilising injection on Friday. Getting quotes from pest control people for treating the house AND combing all 3 cars daily with a flea comb. There won't be a small jumpy beastie left after all this I really really hope
