Where do you keep your litter tray?

One in the kitchen. One in spare bedroom. Not ideal. Yes to free roam through whole house.

I have 2 litter trays - one in the spare room and one in the dining room (which I never use.)
Cats have total free reign of the house and have given up trying to keep them off the work tops.

One is in the bedroom on the floor of a large open cupboard and his second one is across the upstairs hall, inside but near the door of an opposite room. He uses both although one is more favoured. I keep them upstairs so that he doesn't have too far to go if he's lounging in bed on his electric blanket (he's an old cat) but it also means that if he's downstairs with me, he has to take some exercise to get to them when he's fairly fresh. (No areas are normally out of bounds but I do try to organize things (food/litter/cuddles etc) so that he has to do some exercise via the stairs every day.)

Litter tray is in the cats spare room, as are the cat food dishes (away from the dogs)

Cats can go anywhere except kitchen work surfaces.

Those of you who say 'no work tops' - how do you manage to keep them off? I too have given up trying.

Our old cats weren't allowed on the countertops but apart from that they were free. Also I didn't have a litter tray, they peed outside.

I train them, justa. It's easy with Siamese although a little more time-consuming with other cats.

Litter tray is in the porch (although my cat does not like to use it as she likes to use a flowerbed in the garden, she only goes in my garden as she is a scaredy cat) and she is free to roam through the house, she has never jumped onto counter top when I'm there, but I know she does it due to the visible cat hair!

The litter tray is in the bathroom as we have a larger than normal bathroom and a quite small kitchen, plus I've read you're supposed to not have the litter tray in the same space as the food bowls. This means we do occasionally have EllieCat interrupting us in the bathroom to use the tray.

As far as I can tell, she never jumps on the worktops - she tried to a couple of times when we first got her, but has stopped. Nowhere else in the house is out of bounds to her.

Litter tray right next to the back door and one in the bathroom.
The kitten uses them, my big cat uses the trees at the back of the house, hope the kitten follows his lead when he starts to go out.

They are allowed everywhere in the house and come up to bed with us on a night, the bed is very crowded . I am far too soft on them.

Litter tray in the utility room - hardly ever used as they are outside a lot - just sometimes if in overnight & are taken short.

Allowed in the utility room, kitchen & breakfast room (tiled floors). Occasional ingress into the hall with lots of rampaging up & down the stairs & DS's snug.

Never into the lounge or bedrooms.

In the kitchen, and our flat is too small to restrict any areas really, only out bedroom is off limits because it is the only room which always has the door closed.

Litter tray in utility room but mainly uses outdoors. Locked in at night if he comes in and sleeps in a living room and has access to the kitchen (his food) and utility room. Otherwise he wakes me at 4.30/5am miaowing for food and I can't get back to sleep. We are getting a second cat I presume it will be best to give her a room of her own away from first cat.

One in the kitchen, one in the garden. I live in hope that they will use the garden one instead of my lovely flowerbed. They ignore it.

They get the run of the house. and the neighbours houses

In the cupboard under the stairs, door is left slightly ajar but they mainly go outside, it's a backup for when neighbouring cat bullies sit by the cat flap.

Allowed all over the house, sleep on my bed. I once came downstairs to find one snuggled up to the kettle but other than that incident they keep off work surfaces.
