The litter tray

The cat that is left behind - advice please

We have had our girls since they were kittens, sisters from the same litter.

We sadly lost one of them in a tragic accident at the weekend.

As a family we are devastated, and concerned about the cat that is still with us.

She will be 4 next month, and is obviously used to having her sister around for company when we are at work

will she adapt to being on her own, or should we be thinking about getting another cat/kitten to keep her company?

Any advice appreciated

Chaby I read about your cat's accident & I'm very sorry, it sounded awful for you all.

I think the decision to get another cat or not would depend very much on your remaining girl. Some cats are fine with their litter mates but hate unrelated incomers. Others prefer to be completely solitary whereas others are best with a companion. I have heard that female cats tend to dislike new arrivals but again I think this depends on the cat (although my female cat never quite forgave me for taking in a little stray male kitten when she'd been my only cat for a year)
Maybe give it a few weeks & see how she goes. how is she at the moment?

Thanks that sounds sensible to wait a little while. She is off her food and not herself so will see how she gets on.
