Will Cats Protection come and catch a stray tom cat?

Over the last few weeks we've had a problem with a huge mangy black tom cat terrorising our neighbourhood. My 9 month old cat has been neutured but he's still trying to break in to our house frequently. I have friends who live quarter of a mile away and he's making a nuisance of himself there.

I think he's a stray, he's certainly very matted and unfriendly but he's not underweight.

What should we do?

He definitely needs catching and neutering. In theory CPL should be able to help, but there is such a lot of demand on their services that I'm not sure how likely it is (I imagine they prioritise unneutered females, ill/injured cats or cats in immediate danger) but definitely give them a call.

They may give you a trap and ask you to monitor it and then phone when the boy is caught. Then they will come for him.

I thought about a trap but we have so many cats in our neighbourhood we would be catching everyone's pets plus I don't think many traps would be big enough, this boy so massive! I'll give cpl a ring over the weekend and see if they can suggest anything.

Traps are really the only effective way to catch a fit and healthy stray.
