The litter tray

Increase in cat poop

Recently I have noticed my cat , 9 year old female indoor rescue, has started to poop alot more than before.

Not in terms of times but in terms of the amount. It's about double

She gets a mix of wet and dry food and the only change has recently been changing her dry from whiskas/iams to purina.

I know us as people are advised to see our doctors for changes in bowel movements. Does the same apply to cats? Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

Yes, any change in toileting habits in cats should mean a trip to the vet. Cats are quite prone to bowel, kidney and liver problems so its best to check these things out sooner rather than later.
Of course it could be something very simple like she is eating more. Does she have access to the outside and could she be wandering off somewhere for second breakfast?
Hope it's simply that she's being a piggy and all is well.

Thank you Mogz I'll get an appointment for her.

She is completely indoor but I was wondering if the purina is maybe different in someway to her other dry food. I do think she is gobbling it down so hopefully she's just being greedy and there's nothing actually wrong
