The litter tray

Cat poo in neighbours garden

I have had a cat since august. He's an adult cat and was a house cat till i got him so uses his litter tray regularly, even coming in to use it then going out again. The neighbour approached me yesterday and was very aggressive. Basically in the last week or so a cat has started pooing on her lawn. Since mines new, and shes lived here 15 years without a problem, its my cat she has deduced. I tried to tell her there are alot of cars around at night but she kept saying she never had a problem with them. Thing is though, i had a nighttime pooer, but when i got my cat, it moved on (i suspect to my neighbours house) i asked what she suggests and she stormed off and slammed her door. A note came through saying shes got a sonic thing and is considering cctv! She also said that since i have a disabled son, she doesn't understand why i would want the extra stress of a pet! We have agreed to put his litter tray out every time he goes out but she wants me to follow him and re train him! How? Hes an adult. I even said if it was definatly my cat i would clean up the mess but i'm sure its not though. I even filmed another cat coming into our garden from hers last night! There appear to be alot of them. What else can i do?

maybe for the sake of peace just grab a plastic bag head into her garden scoop up the poo and chuck it in your bin even though you know its not your cat

While I love cats, I sympathise with your neighbour, too (though not her aggressive manner). Cat shit is not very nice in the garden, it stinks, and it probably IS your cat doing it. Cats tend not to poo within the territory of a cat, and next door is highly likely to be within your cat's territory. Cat poo is also dangerous (toxocara cati and toxoplasmosis) and bloody horrible, especially if you enjoy gardening and might be weeding, tending vegetables or just sitting out on your lawn.

She needs to get herself one of those cat repellents that spray a jet of water (there is one called the 'scarecrow' that we have and it's excellent). It gives the cat every incentive to find an alternative route past our garden. We don't have it on permanently, just now and then, and it makes the cats think twice about visiting our garden and killing the birds who nest and feed in it (we lost a whole nestful of chicks to a neighbour's cat).

Amazon do a cat sprayer for about £20. Offer to go halves on it?

Thing is i absolutly understand. I dont like cat poo either. I dont blame her for being upset but since then i tried to watch what was happening last night and there were at least 3 other cats crisscrossing across the gardens to the field at the back. It seems to be a corridor for them. If i could keep my cat in my own garden i would but he can easily scale the large fence into the field. I've seen him. There is a nature area behind my neighbours land which will be full of mice which attracts the cats also. My cat has the runs at the moment due to gravy cat food so if it was him, shed have to hose it down!!! Ew! Do you think me putting his litter out when he goes out would encourage him to use it or would he just go elsewhere anyway? Never had an issue with my past cats.

Cut your head off. Put it on a plate. Give to neighbour. Sad Perhaps she will be happy then.

Sorry-that may have been a bit OTT. But people are getting very wound up about cat poo lately.
