Tips on getting cat pee out a rug? Heeeelp :(

So the cat peed on the rug a while ago, tried febreze, 1001 foam carpet stuff. Didn't work. Have recently tried this and going over it with a steam cleaner, doesn't appear to have worked. Does anyone know any other ways to get the smell out? Odour neutralisers seem to work for a while then come morning it smells like wee again, so we've had to put it in the garage. It's only in one corner, but it smells rank Sad

Any tips?

'Simple Solution' liquid from Pets at Home and probably other internet places. Works like magic.

What composition is the rug? If it's got a hessian (or similar) backing, then the pee will have soaked through and be being 'held' by the backing. Treating it on the top surface will be less effective - so go for the underside first.

Oh - and dry it as fast as you can compatible with maintaining the integrity and colour of the rug. It's a pity that the hot weather is over because outside in sunshine is ideal.

I'm not sure if this will work, but I have heard of people putting really smelly items in a black bag with some clean cat litter, but I wouldn't know how long you would have to keep it in there.

I use biological washing liquid, an own brand will do and a carpet cleaner, I use a vax. My female cat is a bugger for peeing but since I have used it I can get the pee out of my carpets and it smells lovely and fresh. Good luck.
