Cats and bees - bad combination, right?

Shuri has become fascinated by the bees bumbling around our lavender bushes and keeps on stalking them

Are cats often allergic to bee stings?

And should I be trying to stop him?

I don't see how you could easily stop him, basildon. They can get inside after all and be bumbling around a windowsill or something.

At least you haven't got a hive so if he bites one and has an allergic reaction, it will only be one bee and not a swarm giving him bites.

I think it may be one of those outdoor things you just have to recognize as a possible issue and keep an eye open for a suddenly swollen mouth, paw or something else.

How is he doing?

He's absolutely fine - he's fascinating everyone on our street because he looks so different and doesn't stop talking! I've had to explain to several people that he's not complaining, he's just talking and no, he doesn't need food (he has food out all the time so eats when he's hungry) and he isn't locked out as he has a catflap

He follows us up to the corner of the road but so far has decided that's the limit of his territory - he and the aggressive black and white cat seem to have come to a detente as the other cat hasn't come into our garden for a few weeks now

He and Daisy are getting a little more relaxed in each other's presence but it's obviously going to be a long slow process

Street cats have serious attitude. He probably just did a 'You've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk? ' on the black and white - who recognized potential Trouble when he saw it and hasn't come back.

Terribly polite though which is why (although they're not entirely relaxed in each other's presence) you don't seem to have had any real trouble between him and Daisy?
