Hi
My kitten, who is 5 months old, has started wee-ing on my bathroom carpet!!(bathroom is downstairs!) She never used to do this until about 2/3 weeks ago, she always used her litter tray, she still uses her litter tray for a poo & her wees mostly!
Any ideas as to why she is doing this & any idea`s on how to stop her doing it??
TIA

Has anything changed, recently? New routine, new animals or people in the household etc?

No, nothing has changed-everything exactly the same!! Just cant understand what the problem is.
Have never had a problem with her before, we had her at exactly 6 weeks old & always used her litter without accidents or doing it any where else by accident or on purpose like she is doing it now!
Shes also clawing at the carpet in 2/3 places, absolutely ruining it-it`s brand new!! Could have anything to do with it-a brand new caepet in there??

Do you have plans to neuter her shortly? (Just musing on hormones etc.)

Yes, booked in towards the end of September! Was casually wondering if she was coming into season or notHmm, or that it was just the new carpetHmm or possibly just that she is being very, very naughty!!HmmAngryGrin

Has she been checked for a uti? Cats often turn to pissing on nice spot surfaces when they have pain weeing?

It might very well have been the new carpet smell but now it's probably habit.

Cat wee ruins carpet so quickly, you need to get rid of the wee completely or she'll just keep weeing in the same spot. An enzyme cleaner will do the trick if you've not done it yet.

To get her to stop is it possible to put a litter tray over where she pee'd or put tin foil there? For some reason cats hate pee'ing on tin foil! Grin

A trip to the vets??
Might get floor tiles in there soon any way!Hmm Was debating whether to have carpet again or floor tiles! If I knew that kitten would ruin carpet so quick I would have gone for tiles!!
will try the tin foil!!
Thanks both for adviceThanksThanks
