Walks in the rain?

What does everyone do when is walk time but it's raining?
The rain doesn't bother my Labrador but it bothers me!
Should i just brave it and buy full waterproofs or make her wait til it's stopped?

I know some people have playtime with their dogs but mine doesn't like play- not interested in toys or balls etc!

I love waterproofs. You get soaked, get him, peel off and are instantly dry!

Ironically my boy doesn't care for the rain much

Waterproofs here - head to toe. Springer loves the rain. I hate the resulting mud!

I too have a Labrador who loves her walks. I wear wellies, showerproof Rohan trousers, a long waterproof coat and my wax hat. I look slightly bonkers but I keep warm and dry and my Labrador is very pleased to get her walks.

If it's raining and we just walk later, but if it doesn't stop we just wrap up and go.

If you really can't get out how about doing some training? Have you done clicker training? It's really good fun and really makes them use their brains which helps to wear them out.

Loads of helpful vids on YouTube, Kikopup is a good start.

I love rainy dog walks, wear full waterproofs including trousers, not an attractive look but no one around to see me as mostly fair weather walkers in our area.
My labrador loves getting wet, we have to leave other dog (GSD X) behind as he refuses to walk in the rain. Although he's usually very active, on rainy days he goes into hibernation mode and sleeps

I like rainy dog walks, the mutt can be a pain in the arse with other dogs (especially small dogs on leads) so I get a more relaxed walk as there aren't so many about.
Have you tried any games with her? Hiding treats around the house for her to find or a puzzle game?

We have "foul weather gear" = waterproofs and wellies. Both the young poodle and old rescue girl happily go out for a walk in the rain. Rescue girl did though have a waterproof dog coat for the first time last winter. On our return we can usually get through at least 2 dog towels!

I don't walk at set times but unless it's torrential we always go out twice a day . I wear a waterproof coat and a hat and if it's cold dog wears an Equafleece jumper or coat and goes in his dog drying bag when he gets home .

We don't mind walking in the rain, dog on the other hand, is really not a fan! We've tried, but 60% of the time just wind up carrying a soggy, wet, irate ball of fluff. Hmm

Mine (staffy x) refuses to walk in the rain. If I mention walkies when its raining he runs and hides and If I do manage to get him outside he just sits down stubbornly and won't move. We do games in the house instead if its very rainy.

Oh yes Stars! We went to the beach and he ran away from the sea but was looking longingly at the other dogs having fun.

Bathtimes are virtually non exsistent as he wont come in the bathroom so he gets punted to the groomers for them to do battle with him lol

Dog hates getting his paws wet. Haven't yet succumbed to wellies for him, but fear it's only a matter of time..

The first time my pup encountered rain she went absolutely bananas. I'm still a bit convinced she's part Gremlin. It's possibly her favourite weather, as it gets extra muddy and the stream gets deeper, plus she gets to drink from the sky. Lucky for her we're Welsh. I'm sure this winter will bring us plenty of the wet stuff to play with. I need to get one of those drying coats for her, and a hat for me.

Whereas ours checks front door and back to see if it's raining in both places and is then cross with us for not sorting the weather...

Our four month old miniature schnauzer won't go out in the rain, she's a fussy little miss at the best of times! I fear we have a diva on our hands Hmm

Our Golden Retriever loves the rain - all the more muddy puddles to lie in Hmm. I hate it, and hate the mud and mess when we get in, and hate that his thick long coat takes ages to dry (and fills the house with the aroma of wet dog Wink).

Our cocker spaniel/poodle cross loves water but hates the rain. He'll hide in the corner behind a chair if you suggest a walk in the rain and if we're in the field when it starts raining he'll go galloping all the way down it and into the woods to shelter. I'll then find him waiting for me with this face that says, "You know I don't do rain".

missy I've never met a schnauzer who liked the rain. Both of mine have hated it.

My rescue hates the rain! He will check out the back door and then refuse to go any further! One day we had got only a few houses along the road when the heavens opened - he sheltered under a bush and refused to carry on - he headed back to home!

My JRT loves water but HATES the rain. She will not even go out into the garden for a wee if it's raining. In fact she will show that she has a bladder of steel. Which is very strange because if it's not raining, particularly at night, we have to go out for a troop round for tinkles that she cannot hold onto Confused.
