Dog toothbrush

Any recommendations for a good toothbrush and paste for dogs? Thanks

Logic Oral Hygiene Gel is great stuff, particularly if your dog isn't too keen on having their teeth brushed. As long as you manage to get some on their teeth (even if it's just smearing it on with your finger) it still does their teeth some good.

I just use the finger brush that comes with the above, I find it easier than a proper brush.

A raw meaty bone a week. Much less hassle (no pork or chicken drumsticks). Your dog will really thank you. No smelly breath and no scary dental bills.

Bones need to be raw and non weight bearing .

Always raw so no splinters - beef's best or chicken wings if its a tiddler. Make friends with a real butcher for free beef bones.

Our lot are big girls of 9, 9 and 8. No smelly breath and no plaque. Last dog was a demon smelly breathed mid size with huge dental bills in his dotage. The current girls have always had raw bones at least fortnightly. Keeps them busy for an afternoon too.

@ Floral - non weight bearing? Haven't heard of this before - ours have shin regularly - great for marrow hunting. Should I be worried?

He's a little Yorkie. So raw chicken wings? (ewww! I'm vegetarian!)

I've always been told that they have a greater risk of breaking teeth on the weight bearing large bones ,but I imagine that would be more femur than shin.

I have two little Yorkies, along with a couple of others of a bigger breed.
For the little ones I use Logic to brush their teeth with a baby's toothbrush, the very tiny ones you get in the supermarket baby section. They also get PlaqueOff on their dinner & sometimes PetzLife gel rubbed on their teeth at bedtime, though they're not keen on that. It's all a bit belt & braces but Yorkies are notorious for having bad teeth & even with all this they've both had to have dentally & a few teeth removed. My vet said I couldn't have done any more, it's just Yorkies.
Must admit my Skyes have gloriously white choppers with much less bother.

Logic is the best dog toothpaste, IMO, and I love the finger microfibre toothbrushes as the dog tolerates having it in his mouth better than a plastic thing plus with my finger I can have a good feel and rub of all the tooth surfaces. You don't even need toothpaste with them but I use both.
