The doghouse

Is it ok to put dog poo in normal bin?

Had DDog out for a walk in a very popular national park today. He pooed and we carried it with us as there were no bins around. We dropped off DDs trike at the car and walked for another bit. I noticed DH had the poo bag in his hand and I asked him why he hadn't left it in the car. He said he knew there was a bin in front of the shop and he was going to throw it in there.
Just wondering - is it ok to throw bagged poo in a normal bin, it seems a bit gross somehow.

This specific bin is directly outside a sweet/ice cream shop and is obviously for wrappers. There was also some harpists playing outside the shop at the time.

As long as its bagged up and tied I'd put a dog poo bag in any public bin

Yes, if it's bagged you can put it in any bin.

I was only wondering this earlier today as I wandered round with a "3-bagger" from ddog, hoping passers by didn't notice the stench.
There were no dog poo bins but I really couldn't bring myself to put it in the one by the ice cream shop so I had to walk round the bloody castle for a second time, looking for a secluded bin.
I think we're supposed to use dog poo bins as they're treated differently by waste removal people than standard bins (I think it gets incinerated), but if there are non available then into the normal bin it goes.
I am not going to walk round with a huge bag of dog shit, collecting swarming herds of eager flies and repelling small children as I go.

Yes, absolutely fine to put wrapped dog poo in normal bin, we've got notices where I live informing people about this. Also OK to put in household rubbish black bags

The only bins you can't put dog poo in are those being serenaded by harpists, any other bin is perfectly fine. Wink Grin

Sorry, posted too soon! I was marvelling at the presence of multiple busking harpists outside the shop - those things are heavy!

Even though its allowed I still try to avoid putting dog poo in a bin if people are sitting nearby having a picnic.
No matter how well its wrapped it still stinks.
