Adolescent/young working cocker (not puppy) where to look?

Hi all,

I've grown up with working cockers and fully appreciate how much exercise etc they require (before anyone asks). My DH and I are about to buy a new house (with garden and lots of open fields/woodland nearby). We want to get an adolescent/young working cocker. Any suggestions were we look for one? We've always got ours from puppies and I'm a but clueless. We'd like a good pedigree etc. Thanks.

I'd see if you can contact any local (or maybe not so local!) gamekeepers. Someone may have a young dog they'd be willing to sell - but it probably won't be housetrained.

A decent gun dog trainer will probably have young dogs already trained. They might be used to living outdoors though.

Decent breeders of any breed occasionally have older dogs, either that they've kept as prospects for themselves that haven't worked out or puppies that have been returned.
