The doghouse

would you send your dog to daycare knowing he has fleas?

Not me (get that in first!) but a woman i've become friendly with whose dog goes to daycare on same day as mine. Hers has fleas and she can't afford to treat until she gets paid, her exH pays for the dog to attend daycare (''his'' dog, big backstory, he works abroad so can't have the dog himself). If she doesn't send dog then she can't go to work. She asked me my opinion and i've delayed texting her back to ask here first. WWYD?

Can't someone with a similar size dog lend her a pipette of flea treatment until she gets paid? Even if all the other dogs are treated the doggy daycare venue is going to get infested. I would assume the owner would take a dim view of someone knowingly sending a dog with fleas. Does the daycare not have rules about pets being routinely treated?

No, I wouldn't.

Nope and I'd be furious when mine caught fleas because she was irresponsible enough to send hers in with them

I offered to pay for the treatment for her but she thinks they are in the house too so needs household spray and refused to let me help her out. She is a lovely woman but I think she has let things at home get a bit...chaotic since her husband upped and left. Anyway I gave her my opinion which was to call sick to work and stay home with dog.

She can't call in sick because the dog has fleas.

The spray is about £10 on amazon.

If she at least treats the dog that solves the daycare problem. She does need to treat the house too but that could wait till she gets paid. She can vacuum a lot and wash all the bedding in the meantime.
If she gets her marching orders from daycare presumably she'll be in a worse pickle....

I volunteer at a daycare centre and I would not be happy at all. We sometimes have 20+ dogs at a time and the thought of fleas speading though them fills me with dread!

I agree 'phoning in sick to work is extreme but tbh I can't see what else she can do. Nobody can help her out with the dog this time and she (dog) can't possibly be left alone without even chance to pee for nearly 10 hours.

Going to ring her tonight and make her see sense about accepting a bit of money to buy stuff. Not to mention I don't want mine picking anything up when he goes on Friday!
