Flea treatment that actually works?

I'm a huge animal lover but hate the bloody fleas, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats which are all treated with frontline/advocate, they're all combed daily with a flea comb and the few carpets we have are treated with RIP Flea regularly but I still keep finding fleas, particularly on the cats. What can I do?

Strangely us humans are never bitten, just keep finding very lively fleas when we comb them every night.

RIP only kills live fleas I would suggest switching your spray to either Indorex or Acclaim which kill live fleas and inhibit larvae growth for 12 months through an IGR.
None of the spot ons offer immediate knock down to live fleas so if your pets are encountering a high burden outside eg. from hedgehogs you will still see live fleas whilst the advocate takes 2 hours and the Frontline 24 to 48 hours to kill the fleas. If you are using Frontline bathing within 48 hours of application either before or after will reduce effectiveness and repeated bathing or swimming will reduce the effectiveness of Advocate.
In your circumstances I would strongly suspect and challenge outside. To combat I would apply advocate every 4 weeks or switch to a seresto collar and change the spray as advised above. Repeated bathing or swimming does not affect seresto collar.
