Yapping dog in next doors garden

A dog has been continually barking in next doors garden for the last hour. Never seen this dog before - no one seems to be home. How the hell can I shut it up on this lovely summers evening when I should be able to sit in my garden in peace? I know the back gate is never locked - tempted to go round and open it!

What happened in the end? Was it your neighbour's dog, or a visitor's dog? You also have my sympathy. You should be able to enjoy your garden in peace.
