morning poo surprise

I have two dogs, youngest is nearly 1. He has been a bit of a nightmare toilet training. Didn't seem too bothered about where he goes, even tho we've done rewards and praise and lots if time outside.

I think we're mostly there and don't have wee problems anymore but he doesn't seem to understanding holding poos until outside. The main issue is that there is always a poo in kitchen in the morning. We take him out last thing at night (10-11 ish) and let him out first thing 6 ish. I will go at night and in morning but there's still always the morning surprise.

I've tried changing food to higher protein and less bulk (goes just as often in smaller amounts), feeding him earlier in evening, but can't seem to change this habit. I've fed him less but he's quite lean already. He's terrible with crates and screams if I've tried to confine him anywhere. It's getting me down as I can't stay with relatives if he poos in house and I need to sort somehow. Any ideas - ill try anything!! P.s. don't think I've done anything wrong in training as my other dog is brilliant. Little one just needs to go so finds the best place for it whenever he needs to.

Start getting up in the night. The first night get up in the middle of the night, if he's already poo'd don't worry about just stick him out anyway and get up earlier the next night.

Once you're getting up before he poos slowly move the time back in 15 minute slots until he is going through the night.

You'll need to keep going out with him in the daytime and treating him for performing too, until he gets it during the night.

Ok, will start with that. I always go out with him and reward, he won't go out without me standing outside anyway Confused. It's a shame as if he ever comes to bed with us, he'll hang on til we get up but I don't want him with us every night. He obviously just wakes up, needs to go, so goes and I'm worried we'll never break him of that.

Totally agree with D0oinMeCleanin - this is exactly what we did with ours and it worked a treat....
