The doghouse

My bastard dogs can cause us mayhem even while we are on holiday miles away from them...

We get back to the caravan to a voicemail on DH's phone from a vet we've never heard of regarding a dog known as Devil Dog.

I was on the phone to my mum when DH listened to the message. It didn't say why he was at the vet, only that he was there. Obviously I panic. I start asking my mum to drive to our house and contact me with our credit details prepared to re mortgage the house to pay for his treatment. DH starts shouting at me, my mam starts shouting at DH via me, her parrot joins in the background.

We eventually get through to the vets and are asked to describe a dog who was brought in straying but healthy. We duly do so and are told "Oh, yes, you mean the barky one. He is here"

DH phones the dog sitter to let them know Devil Dog is safe and find out what happened. She promptly tells him not to panic but Whippy is in the vets, having been handed in after escaping from her garden to play with the local neighbourhood children. DH explains Devil is also there and she is very relieved. She hadn't wanted to worry us on holiday by telling us she had lost both of dogs, bless her, she sounded past herself.

Still they're both safe and happy and that's the main thing. Poor dog sitter though, she must have been frantic.

The parrot always joins in, usually to tell us all to shut up, sometimes he shouts for help Grin

We've had a message to say they've both been collected and are safe and sound back with the fosterer and are grounded forever Grin

Ah, nice relaxing holiday for you. Grin

Perhaps the parrot could give them a good talking to.
