Looking for some advice please, adopted a 5 year old black lab in October, he is massive part of our family and we are besotted with him! Have had no issues with his behaviour, he will chew his toys but otherwise doesn't chew furniture, socks, DC's toys, etc.

Recently though he has started chewing on people's sleeves and trouser legs - he never does this to me, DH or the DC just my mother in law and two male family members who visited this weekend!

Part of me thinks well they shouldn't allow him to as no one told him not to until the had holes in their trousers, I'm really just wondering why he would do it and only to certain people? There was no aggression with it.

Thanks

Honestly? Probably just because he can.

Is he bored when those people are around? Is he looking for attention?

If one of mine started it, especially at 5, they'd get a very, very firm 'no' and an equally firm 'leave it'. Then I'd distract with a game or a toy and lots of praise.

It could be that he's started to properly settle in your house and is pushing a few boundaries. It took about 6 months for the last dog we rescued to fully, properly settle in.

But at 6, it musn't be allowed to continue. Maybe give him a new chew toy or two?
