Hi guys,
My Skinners dogfood has reduced the amount of food my puppy should get each day (they reduce it again at 7 months). Does this mean I should be feeding him twice rather than three times a day?
Thanks

Hi Shouty, its fine to keep to a reduced amount at each meal but still to feed 3 times a day. You might want to think about SLOWLY changing pup to twice a day feeding between now and 7 month change tho. Speaking as someone in the veterinary profession problems only really happen when sudden changes to diet are made. Am also intrigued as to whether there's a specific reason for choosing Skinners? Have you looked at the JAmes Welbeloved range - fab food and all natural.

Skinners duck/salmon/turkey and rice varieties contain loads less crap than JWB (beet pulp, chicken fat, alfalfa etc) and is about half the price.

FWIW OP I switched to two meals a day at around 7 months.

I have to admit to having been always lead by my puppy (though I have never owned a really food orientated dog) and I have always dropped the lunchtime meal when one of the meals was not regularly been eaten up. I am a vet and I have always dropped a meal striaght off never decreased it gradually.
Mobile mop who is a medium sized dog dropped his lunch at about 6 months, but I still feed him twice daily at nearly 2 probably because I fed my cats twice daily.
I do suggest skinners to clients, but fed my boy Arden Grange.

Thanks everyone. I will leave it at 3 meals for now but just cut down the quantity.

Our standards have always just naturally dropped the lunch time feed, just looked at it and walked away. I still feed some breakfast but this fussy lady likes it around 10am, any earlier she turns her nose up, then dinner at about 6.30pm. The toys prefer just once a day, at dinner time and will turn noses up at breakfast. Fussy bunch! For larger dogs I prefer splitting meal to twice a day because of the danger of bloat.
