I will refer you to a previous conversation with DH...

me: Oh, make sure you don't shut the bedroom door if the greyhound is still asleep. She pissed all over our bed today because I forgot about her and shut her in. She was only in there for five minutes. I think she panicked rather than actually needed the loo. Luckily I had a pile of towels on the bed and it went all over them, so I boiled and bleached them. The bed is fine.
dh: I never lock her in. I don't like her being the bedroom

And then this morning after arriving home from the school run...

me: Where is the grund?
dh: Sleeping.
me: You haven't locked her in have you?
dh: What!?! Why!?! She was asleep.
me:

Why is it my bed she does this to? Why not her own? Our door doesn't even shut properly. Why not just let herself out?

There is a brightside to this. After a lengthy and sweary conversation about how best to clean the matress and after me threatening to move out if he dared to put our Vax Rapide all over my memory foam matress, the steam cleaner I have coveted for months and months and months is now winging it's way towards me.

So on that note I must go and tidy up so I have nice clear surfaces to steam tomorrow morning Grin

Aw. The grund has been watching QVC and working out what the best way to get you a steam cleaner would be. Thoughtful!

Oooh, there's an idea I could train them to piss on things I want replacing. Now, how would one go about training a dog to piss on a sofa and a wok?

Woks fit in dishwashers unfortunately.

How long have you had her? The grund not the wok.

What if you don't own a dishwasher?

DOoin you don't need to teach her to wee on the sofa - half a pint of lime cordial and a horrified look/howl of despair would probably suffice Wink

We've had her about 8 months now. She's only done this twice. Both times she was locked in. She had very severe separation anxiety when we first got her. She's much better now but gets panicky and cries if she realises a door is separating her from us/the other dogs. She's happy to snooze on the sofa alone if she knows she could get to us if she wanted to.

I'm afraid I'm very interested in the steam cleaner. Blush With three grunds, there are invariably accidents and all sorts of things need to be cleaned after various "biologicals" (see, I watch my crime dramas Grin) have been liberally applied round the house. One cut on a tail and we look like an episode of CSI. What sort did you get? And can you report back on its effectiveness? We've been seriously considering one for ages.

We, well I, settled on the Vax S6, because it claims to do multiple jobs and the last Vax steam cleaner we had was very good. If you do get one, don't try and be clever and put bleach in the water to be extra clean. It won't work. It will break the machine. It will void your warrenty. Not that I would do anything so silly of course Grin

I am sure there will be whole thread on the effectiveness or otherwise tomorrow

Dooin, this is an embarrassing confession to make, but I have been wondering about your steam cleaner ALL WEEK. I can take no more suspense. Please, how is it going? Is it making the Dooin household an oasis of sparkly fresh loveliness?

I have just come upstairs to MN after a slog round cleaning downstairs and am bloody fed up with the way that three grunds can transform a lovely house into a tripe stained, muddy, oomska adorned cowshed. Harrumph!! Grin

So I really want to know from someone else with three dogs, if these things actually work and what they are like to use.

I haven't even opened it yet. It didn't come until tea time and yesterday was declutter day Sad

I intend to steam the whole house tomorrow after work. All this decluttering means that the general cleaning has gone out of the window and the house is squalid Hmm, so it has it's work cut out for it.

Scuttle, I too am desperate to know how good it is. We may only have Sprockety boy but we also have a DD whose favourite hobby is lobbing food on the floor, especially banana, the carpet is stained black round her highchair Hmm

Bookmarking. I love the look of that Vax cleaner. I've got a steam cleaner for the floors already but it's got no attachments, so I'm coveting my MN neighbours oxen vax.

Dooin, there is now an Official Queue of us - all waiting to hear how you get on with the device.

Scuttle thanks so much for the sympathy Hmm :o

It's not fun at all picking up mushy, slimy, half chewed banana off the carpet. But she loves em
