The doghouse

Anyone know of any rescues that have space for a Bull Mastiff urgently?

He would need to be transported from Stockton, where he is in kennels after being left behind in a repossesed home by his owner Angry so they have limited backgound in him, but say he is good with kennel staff.

He just popped up on my Facebook and is due to be pts in the morning if no-one can take him.

All the local rescues are full.

Teesside, North East, not far from Newcastle. They might be able to transport some of the way as the people who posted it on my wall are rescue helpers and do have access to transport vans.

Try Iron Mountain Rescue.

I'll let the people involved know about Iron Mountain Rescue and Mastiff rescue. I think there is someone on their way to view him, but the people concerned rehome dogs this way often, so it would be good for them to build up a few more contacts.

sorry to be precise - saw the thread, was going out and only had time to type IM Rescue. Do you need any telephone numbers or anything?

I have put links on the email I sent them so I don't think so, they are still waiting to see if this lady is interested in him. Hopefully she will be and she will pass all the homechecks.

Poor dog. I had no idea about this side of rescue. Apparently he is in private boarding kennels being paid for by the lenders who repossesed the house he was found in. They only have to pay for the kennels for two weeks and if the dog is claimed they will be killed. He's already been there three weeks as they agreed to give him extra time.

The person trying to arrange the rehoming is a private pet transport business who donates her time to trying to help find homes for these dogs. She has already recieved abuse from a 'dog dealer' who attempted to rehome him to sell on Sad

any news?

If it's desperate I'm free tomorrow and could foster the dog for a little while or take him to a rescue further afield- i am around 80 miles south of newcastle though so don't know if they'd let me take him? - cannot really find it a home or offer him one myself but can keep him safe and alive while a rescue is found- if the lady doesn't take him.

The lady is interested. Pending a homecheck he should be with her soon.

It was a very nice offer iwantadog. There are plenty of rescues you could foster short term for Smile

I've just heard this dog failed his cat test, so cannot go to this lady, but they are waiting to hear from Mastiff Rescue in the morning as they might have a foster home for him.

Bullies in Need may consider him if Mastiff rescue can't help. They operate UK wide... and whilst they normally have English Bull Terriers and American Bulldogs he has "bull" in his breed.... and I know they are partial to pugs Confused so if they have space they are worth a go.

Aww, my faith in people has been restored a little bit. This business only just started posting about these dogs (this one in particular) a few days ago and it really only got noticed yesterday and passed around lots of people's facebook pages.

Her business page now has over 300 more friends and this morning she has a list of people waiting to see this dog and hoping to pass a home check and interview and a fair few people offering to pay the kennel fees to help save him for a few more days. Plus they are still waiting to hear from Mastiff Rescue. So I think this one at least is going to be okay.

She has more dogs to help, but this one was in the most need and she now has hundreds more people willing to help get the message out.
