Anyone watching? DP and I are open-mouthed at the couple with the six-year-olds . . .

Why can't the grandma move in with them?

I didn't quite understand why they were going to live with grandma during the week? I've stopped watching, has it been explained?

I'm fascinated with the ten year olds, they are so identical I wonder how they never mixed them up as babies.

It really is fascinating. Maybe they did sweetie and nobody would ever know :)

I don't think I would volunteer to look after my children's quads for five nights a week. That is a massive ask

Report
HumphreyCobblers · 19/05/2016 21:47

ok, it wasn't their idea

I'm Shock at the thought of having four at the same time

They were going to live with Grandma Monday to Friday as Mum had to go back to work 50 hours a week to be able to pay for their private school fees and didn't have time to look after them during the week.

The Dad of the fee paying school children is odd.

Report
Bloodybridget · 19/05/2016 21:51

They are with Grandma because

  1. Parents decided they should all go to a private school because two of them seemed to be behind in some ways
  2. So the mother had to go back to work full time to pay for it. And says she works a 50 hour week.
  3. The father leaves for work at 6.45 and gets home at 7.30.

So mother said she just couldn't manage it all, school run etc., so children should live with her mother M-F.

I agree social

I also don't understand why grandma didn't move in with them mon-fri, the house is huge compared to hers

I don't understand why they can't go home when their parents get in from work and then Gran can go round in the morning to make breakfast etc. Poor Gran, what a massive job to take on!

Why not take them out of private school and spend some of the fees on a tutor...and then Mum would be able to go part time.
4 lots of school fees is a huge outgoing, even a tutor everyday after school would be cheaper and more beneficial to the family.

Not necessarily.

The 1yr olds dad needs to pull his weight more

Report

Sweetie, I'm sure I remember when the Carles quads were born that their parents wrote their initial on the sole of each girl's foot so all helpers knew who was who...

And agree that the dad of the six year olds doesn't seem supportive at all - the mum seems emotionally exhausted.

Report
SocialDisaster · 19/05/2016 22:02

I suspect he wanted kid free time and manipulated the situation.

The identical quads look cool.

I have twins, that's bad enough Grin
I can just imagine mil face if I asked her to have my 2 for 5 nights a week. I think words beginning with F and O would likely be used.

Maybe the father of the babies will do a bit more now he's looked after them on his own. I don't know why his partner lets him do nothing when he gets in! I wonder how long Gran will carry on looking after her GDCs.

The thought of 4 pre-teen girls fills me with horror - the squealing!

A lot of the stuff with the 6yos started to make ended when the mum admitted she'd had PND. I got the impression she still has feelings of guilt/inadequacy, poor woman.

MissMarpleCat · 19/05/2016 22:46

I agree CaveMum, out of all the parents they seemed the most emotionally distanced from their dc's Sad

bakeoffcake · 19/05/2016 22:53

I'm just watching now and can't get over what a stupid idea it is fir the quads to satay with their gran in the week. The poor woman will be beside herself with exhaustion but he end if the week, she looked in her late 60s.

Putting them in private school is a mad idea, would have gone part time, paid for a tutor and got some help every day in the house.

I wonder if parenthood for the six year old couple was partly about having something they couldn't have? They are a bit like a man that wants to check out of family life and be an every other weekend Dad.

RainbowJack · 20/05/2016 00:27

I agree RE: the private school/gran madness.

Why did they only show 2 mins of the single dad?

Report
Middleoftheroad · 20/05/2016 00:33

I have twins aged 10 and we both work (and my husband leaves it all to me too and is out early and late - bone of contention!) and even though my kids are easy, I rarely impose them on my fit and healthy mother. There is no way I would dream of sending 2 to live with my mom let alone 4. Nor would she agree. Madness!
