I've just finished the box set and loved it - anyone else enjoy it?

We loved it, although I had to watch the final episode with a cushion in front of my face - very tense. There is a second season in the offing, apparently - no Matthew McConoghey, but Woody Harrelson is in it (or so I hear).

I heard they were going to do the second series with female leads. Could just be a rumour though

Interesting re female leads...

Agree re final episode - so very tense. Felt like the writer was channeling Texas Chainsaw Massacre (minus chainsaw) in terms of scenery etc

We didn't like it but watched the whole series. We won't bother with the second one.

Season 2 due in June. Has Vince Vaughan and Colin Farrell as leads.

I liked it but thought the story was secondary to the acting and writing. Also, the last episode was a bit unsatisfactory - seems like the guy got busted but all the politicians etc involved got away with it, but we're not sure? There was just that line in a news report where they distanced the killer from the church guy.

I thought the dialogue and acting were fantastic. Really really good. But the story itself was a not so good. And a part of me thinks, meh, kids and women dead and raped and the perpetrators not being held accountable?

But I do agree that the script was fab, and the acting was great.

I agree with you Alice - I've been mulling over it today and for me I felt that the personal redemption of both men (Woody - admitting personal weakness and accepting potential for judgement, Matthew - letting go and moving on from his daughter's death) was the focus, not the horrendous crimes and twisted network behind them. The scripts really worked for me. The pervasive, sultry moodiness.

Risky casting for S2. I have a massive crush on Vince Vaughn but not sure on him or Colin as leads in a drama like this.

Brilliant series. And yes very much about the leads and not the crimes. Although it's about 5 episodes in before you realise

The next series is apparently totally unrelated, I'll reserve judgement until I see it.
