I have been watching this series, but haven't seen tonight's yet. It is my favourite Masterchef format, and I like it better than any of the copies (NewZealand/Canada etc).

Definitely the best format

And I love Gary and George

I am still in the early days - was on hols when it kicked off so have about three million episodes to watch.

Agree it is the best of the lot. They have the budget to do it properly but it's not ruined by advertising. LLOVE George. I love love love him.

I'm still watching tooGrin
Loved the last team challenge in that massive food market, Rachel and her team mate kicking off over mayo!
I'm still not feeling Kylie Kwon as a mentor though. She seems more interested in the chefs when they are doing the immunity challenges than the contestants.

I'm still watching but I'm quite behind. I think they DO have lots of ads, if you look at how it is cut we obviously don't get all the breaks in the original. Still no idea who wins but I like quite a few. Rachael is getting on my nerves and I don't like Renae much

Me! Although a couple of episodes behind.
We are constantly astounded at Matt's outfits and giggle whenever George has to eat something spicy! What has Matt Moran done not to be invited back so far? I much prefer him to Kylie.

I'm still watching! Haven't watched last night's episode yet though. Definitely my favourite masterchef format. I find Emelia really smug and irritating, think she is the only one I don't like.

I love it and always have done. Emilia is very self confident. I was pleased when Rachel did so badly in the immunity :o

I'd watch it but for the accents. One season I simply had to switch off with all the going up at the end of sentences, all of them, irrespective of age, even when simply reciting ingredients. How can you do that, narrate a list and go up at the end of every word? Simply intolerable!

:) I was also happy to see the end of Rachel - how many tears and close calls can you take ! Not been keen on the immunity challenges so far. finding the scheduling and amalgamated episodes confusing. Wish they would reinstate the knives in the back elimination from the first series , that was fun .

I liked the eliminations when they had to choose who had been shit, yes that was fun.

aoife24 I totally agree, it winds me up but I enjoy that Blush! Although I love MCA and all the extra stuff that goes with it, I still think the UK one is the King. I couldn't get on with the South African one, can manage the NZ one and love the Irish one

I'm still in but couldn't find the thread until now, I'm more or less up to date I think, so will watch last night and tonights, I don't like Emelia, very smug, quite like Colin and the really quiet lady, can't remember her name, but she seems to know what she is doing, I thought it was funny when they had to do the healthy option task and (Brent) had eaten his because he didn't think they were going to call him up, his face was priceless, the woman who cooks only healthy food and never shuts up going on about it was disgusted she wasn't picked to have her food tasted.

Normally love MPW but what's with the poker face and "when I was a lad..." stories . Is he going soft ? Looking forward to the return of shouty Marco in tonight's pressure test !

Yeah we are still watching. Takes a lot of TV watching commitment to stay up to date.

Does anyone else find themselves narrating their cooking (in their head) in an Australian accent?
Tonight "I knew I had to get that salmon cooked through perfectly before the leeks were finished sauteeing". "But I turned my back, and BAM - my leeks were burnt. It doesn't look good for me today".

Report
DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 22/10/2014 13:46

Ha - my narration would be something like: "I put the pasta on, then had a glass of wine and a pile of grated cheese in the five minutes that the kids had their attention focused on DH rather than me..." Grin

I'm still watching, and really enjoying it, but I hate the way Marco says every sentence as if it is some profound piece of wisdom when in fact he is just spouting platitudes half the time. He'd probably say "I'm going...to...The Shops [long stare]" in the same tone of voice...

MPW really, really irritates me. He is so pompous - almost a caricature of a celebrity chef.

Report
LIZS · 26/10/2014 20:16

hmm , that was pretty predictable .

Agree, I don't like Emelia at all, or Kira or Amy. Not sure about Jamie. Like Laura, Colin, Tracey, Brent...... Just up to Georgia leaving, didn't really have any sense of her so don't mind too much. Looking forward to the ex contestants coming back

Ohh yes - very smug!

I have to say I am enjoying Heston Week far more than I enjoyed Marco Week. Heston really seems to want them to learn - and is willing to help them - whereas Marco seemed primarily focused on Being Marco Pierre White - he makes my skin crawl, and I spent a lot of that week shouting at the tv!

Just found this thread. I adore MCA!
I think this season had been so much better than last year with its gazillion team challenges.
I like Jamie and Laura. Not keen on Ben and Tracy. I think poor Emilia just doesn't come across well. No idea how Brent managed to get this far but he's getting good.
