the instructions for my swanky HDD recorder don't tell you how to record one channel and watch another! i'm stuck looking at kirsty's face and listening to john inverdale (actually not a bad combo). I don't suppose there's a foolproof way to do this that everybody knows?

oh it's so hard having lots of consumer durables

Acnebride, you need to swap back to your TV. I presume you're watching through the AV channel at the moment? Then just change channel on your TV (on mine, you push the AV button to go back to the TV and then pick the channel you want). Your DVD recorder will stay on the one it's recording.

DH just bought one of these and I think it's amazing! DS very impressed when I "paused" Storymakers for him to make him have his bath.

florence thank you so much.

Unfortunately what happens when i press the av button is i get the channel i want on sound and the channel i'm taping rolling slowly past on failed horizontal hold.... i think i will call the guy who i paid to tune it all in as neither dh nor i can run our own lives

We have Panasonic TV and DVD recorder which means they are very well-integrated. But I wonder if you need to somehow "turn off" the DVD recorder - as you used to have to do with video recorders?
