Are the Final Destination films suitable for a 13 year old?

I have only watched the first one and found it so gross/scary I don't want to watch the others. DD has just said she watched 2 and 3 at a sleepover. I am but not sure if I am over reacting just because I don't like the films.

I want some opinions before DD tells DH and he (maybe) hits the roof. He has watched the films!

Not frightening, but not suitable for a 13 year old imo.

What are they rated?

I think they are rated as 15!

We watched horror films when we were 13 at parties etc...evil dead, freddy, halloween etc etc. I suppose the gore might have moved on a bit since those days.

It depends on the 13yr old.
I watched the same films as bananapaddlepop younger than that (I've an older brother) and by 13 wouldn't have been scared of Final Destination.

my 13 yo isnt sensitive or shocked by them at all! So I should just shrug it off? or chill as DD says

They're not scary but I remember them being very gorey. I watched stuff like that at 13 (nightmare on elm street, childs play etc)

my dd13 loves them all and has watched them several times over

although they are gory, there is no actual violence glorified between people and no sex/swearing so I think if a teenager is not too squeamish they are ok

No! They are terrible! People dying in hideous ways. I think there's no reason for children to see such images and wonder what they do to a young mind!!!

AnyFucker · 26/01/2009 18:10

such images put my dd off going on fairground rides, and that's all right by me !

no - and i am quite liberal.

the whole final destination series is really a montage about different ways people can die in the most horrific terrifying ways possible

there is little plotline

2 and 3 are both 18s but 1 is a 15.

I have watched them all because I think the storyline and how the events are connected are clever but I wouldn't watch them again, they make me imagine horrible death scenarios all the time.
