I had a severe eating disorder myself as a teenager and tried hypnotherapy as one of many 'therapies'. It didn't work for me. Getting the right counsellor worked in the end, but it takes time. If you are not finding counselling a help at the moment, please try an alternative counsellor and consider humanistic (person-centred) counselling rather than CBT or psychotherapy...someone really listening, not judging, not expecting, not trying to fix, just allowing things to be. In my opinion, the last thing someone with an eating disorder needs is judgement or further expectation that counselling will somehow 'change' them.
