DD13 and high heels

Just looking for opinions as this is an area I'm largely unqualified to judge on being a bloke and everything.

DD13 wants some boots with 2" heels. These won't be for everyday wear but would be the first high heeled shoes she's had.

I'm undecided; part of me thinks it's a near-inevitable part of her growing up, part of me wonders if they'll damage her feet.

What do you think?

For parties or going out? Fine. As long as they fit her feet well and she can actually walk in them.

For every day wear no.

As RJ said, short term use okay for an occasion/event, all day long no.

I also have this issue with my DD but have the added paranoia concern about her bunions being made much worse by the shoes she would where if I let her.

She's generally reasonably sensible so I think saying "Yes, but only for special occasions" will hopefully be effective. She usually goes for comfort but I think she was especially taken with these boots. I'll keep an eye on how often she's wearing them as well.

My dd was out with her friend one Saturday, and bought some really quite high-heeled shoes a few months ago. She bought them with her own pocket money, and she's worn them to parties a couple of times.

She's finally admitted they aren't very comfortable and make her feet ache - and has decided she probably won't buy such high heels next time.

If I'd made her take them back or refused to let her wear them, she wouldn't have learned by her own mistake...!

really high heels do knacker up feet, tendons, posture and back, as well as looking fugly. Sadly these aren't really high by modern standards (which is why I own no smart shoes, can't buy any that I can walk in).

just don't let her spend too much as they will hurt so she won't wear them. And yes, they are only for a few hours at a time.

Are her feet growing?

With DD1 she had a basic set of shoes only until her feet stopped growing as £££ on fancy shoes to be worn only a few times before they are outgrown seems a waste of money to me.
Since then we have expanded because shoes only worn occasionally can now last her for years.

DD1's first highish heels were bought for a business week at school last term (y10). She wore them the first 2 days, then school shoes for the rest of the week!
