My DD1 will be 16 next Thursday and I am mourning where all the years have gone. My body knows I'm old enough but my brain is telling me that I'm not.

I have been very lucky with her after reading posts on here and haven't gone through half of what other people have and sometimes have to shake myself that she is not my little girl any more. (She will always be my baby iyswim)

Not after any advice per se but just feel that I don't know where the last 16 years have gone and am anxious for her future. She has started getting 'official' post i.e. her NI number which makes it all the more real.

Ikwym. Ds1 was 16 in May. It's so strange having another adult size person in the house and another adult portion food wise.

I keep telling him to stop growing up but like a typical teenager he won't. Xmas Grin

I am exactly where you are, my DD 16 in Aug, I am struggling with the whole 6th form, GCSE, leaving school thing. Its all for older kids not my baby surely! I certainly don't feel old enough to have a child leaving school. Don't know about her but not sure I'm ready for this next transition Sad

My ds 17 and dd 15. It was ds going to the gp on his own that got to me.
I am not ready for dd to be 16 she is very mature in many ways, but not in others ie not into make up, a bit of an Emma, looking after everyone else's relationships but doesn't seem to be interested in boys etc

DDs best friend was 16 the other day (she's 15 just after Christmas).

It seems like yesterday I was this "little" girls christening and TTC myself.

I'm still about 23 in my head! Grin
I have no idea how I can possibly have a 13 year old, let alone a 17.8 year old! Shock Grin

I feel like that today, as it's DS1's 13th birthday, and I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.

I was 19 when I had him, and my mum said it wouldn't hit hard when he turns 13 as "you'll still only be in your early 30s." She was wrong. Eek!

Well, that's it she is now 16. Feel a little bit sad but she will always be my baby.

She has had a wonderful day and even had Happy Birthday sang to her in science. She has received some lovely presents and is now looking forward to dinner and fireworks.

Oh well, countdown to Christmas now as I always feel it doesn't really start until after her Birthday Xmas Smile
