Can I give shredded paper to my guinea pigs?

We are about to move house and have been sorting through old paperwork and shredding what we don't need prior to the move...I now have a black binbag bulging with shredded paper and I was wondering, is there any reason why I couldn't give it to the guineas? Would be in addition to their usual bedding and hay rather than replacing it - I just thought they'd quite enjoy a couple of handfuls each to play in and it seems a shame to waste it! But is there any reason why I shouldn't? Inks, paper types etc? It is all just normal household admin type paper.

thanks in advance!

I do for my boys.
When they went on holidays, the Small Animal Boarding Cages had shredded paper in them.

I check all the paper- if it's non shiney, no plastic (like the clear window- I tear them out and shred the envelope)
letters, TV Times is lovely and soft when it;s shredded (but not the cover, too shiney)

Anything I'd be happyy for them to eat , I shred.
And my boars have their own shredder Grin
Long, ribbon strands shredder for bog standard recycling paper

Cross cut confetti cut shredder for the pigs .

Good Luck with the move.

Ooh and I shred the inner tube of loo roll. My mice used to love them to play in and tear up.

Thank you 70, that's great Smile None of it is shiny stuff - mainly just bog-standard A4 printer paper, letters, old bank statements, invoices, that type of thing so no plasticky bits.

Shredding the inner tube of loo roll is inspired Grin Will have to try that too!

I put a layer in their trug then their hay on top.
My little Rex (well, not so little now Grin ) is a red-eyed so he pretends his eyesight isn't good.
He dives into the hay (naice Timothy hay indoors) and gets very judgey and ragey.
But he pees on the paper shreds so at least he's got the idea.
