silent hamster wheels?

Am I searching for the impossible?

So far I have spent £20 in pet at home searching for the elusive silent wheel. Poor 'ham and cheese' loves his wheel but goes like the clappers and the noise is unbearable at times. I have had to swap to one of those flying saucers at night but he doesn't really like it and I feel guilty only letting him have his beloved wheel for 3 or 4 of his waking hours.

Has any one got any proven recommendations?

My hamster has a silent one, it's wooden. Totally wood. All you hear is the patter of little paws.

Shame I can't get a wheel for the Guinea-Pigs (or a treadmill)

They would give me the "Seriously? " look that DD does.

Ooh that is appealingly pretty too Vivalebeaver. He'd love eating it too as he is fond of wooden objects! It could well make a good hamster sized xmas present.

I'm surprised his plastic number hasn't melted under the strain as he is a whirling blur! I wish I could use him to generate lecky, he'd halve my fuel bill!
