Am I too old for minerals makeup?

Have heard mixed things about minerals foundation but don't know whether maybe I'm too old and wrinkly to try it.

I'm 39, have some sun damage to my skin - lines around my eyes when I smile, deep furrows in my forehead when I concentrate and big pores which I can't get rid of, quite dry skin on my cheeks with an oily T-zone. I think maybe I have the wrong skin for minerals foundation after reading up on it, and all the videos I see on Youtube are made by 16 year old girls with beautiful skin that doesn't need makeup.

Do you think minerals eyeshadow would be a bad idea too?

I've been wearing the same old makeup for years and really feel like a change and give my image a bit of va va voom

I recently converted to using Bare Minerals make up after using clinique for years and years and I love it. I'm no spring chicken at (whisper) 38 next week but my skin looks amazing after a couple of months of using it and I have this wonderful glow about me!

I got married last month and the whole bridal party got bare minerals makeup done, we all looked great!

That's interesting because it's Clinique I use now. Maybe I'll give it a go, just worried it's a bit expensive if it doesn't work.

Are you anywhere near a department store where you could get a trial done ? I had Bare Minerals put n in Harvey Nicks and din't like the stuff at all, looked all cakey

I, too, switched from Clinique to mineral make up.

I much prefer it for the summer, quick to put on once you know how and doesn't slide off the way liquid foundation does.

I'm 31 and not particularly wrinkly but I think it gives really good coverage, esp pores.

Always have DC's with me so not a chance of a try out in a department store and I'm worried about the cakey look, particularly when I've seen recent pictures of Carla Bruni and she just looked so awful and powdery.

It's seeing the pictures of her that made me wonder if my skin was too old.

go on the lolo website, they can send out samples to you try. U didn't like bare minerals, they gave me a wierd metallic sheen. I'm 39 and Lily lolo looks great on me, and I have dry cheeks too. Just make sure you moisturise really well before applying it.

I'm 45 and love it. It can cover reasonably well if you build it up (or not depending on the look you want)

It looks natural and doesn't feel or look like a thick mask like more traditional foundation.

I think sometimes it looks better to live with some lines and work round them rather than to try and cover them altogether.

I'm 43 (I hate saying/writing that) and I can't wear mineral make-up. I do have very dry skin though so that may be more of a factor than the wrinkles. I do end up with Carla-style cakeyness with the added attraction of emphasised wrinkles that look like canyons on my face.

I think I'll try some of the testers from the lolo site that HF linked to and then if it all goes wrong it won't be such an expensive mistake.

I recommend Lilylolo too. V similar products to Bare but for a fraction of the price and they do sample pots too. V quick delivery. Better range of colours IMO.

I've been using mineral make up for years and I wouldn't go back to normal make up. Over time it really does improve the condition of your skin so you need to wear less make up.

Mineral make up will be good for your open pores. It will go cakey if you've got some flakey dry patches though. You need to make sure you've exfoliated any flakiness away and moisturised well.

Can you get to a shop/counter for a make over?

The eyeshadows are great! I didn't try them for years because they looked too fiddly and I worried they wouldn't be good for contact lens wearers but they're actually lovely and really easy to use. Really good range of colours.

I'm not crazy about mineral blushers mind you.

In fact I think it is better for older skin because it doesn't cake or clog and it doesn't slide off or disappear into pores. It copes quite well with my combination skin but you really must go sparingly with it so it doesn't look like a mask. Blend it in with a brush for much longer than normal...

I find it's best to apply straight after moisturising but it lasts ALL day and looks great.

I use it over tinted moisturiser. I use Laura Mercier. Am 43.

I've got dry skin and it works for me. Better than any "normal" foundation I've tried.

What do you mean about nano-particles WilfShelf?
