Have abit of facial scarring - chemical peel/micro thingy - what may help it?

I read a while back about chemical peels on here and thought it sounded 'perfect' for me as I have surface scars from spots I guess (I scar easily). I religiously used bio oil which was great for my arm and leg scars which were whoppers, but my face looks all blotchy and odd, esp. from ear along under the cheekbone. After reading the thread though I am more confused as some peels are DIY home ones, or done by beauticians rather than surgeons. Does anyone know what 'level' of treatment and/or what I would need to help? THank s
