I need some shoes or very short boots to wear with trousers.

They need to be flat, kind of on the clumpy side, easy to put on, and black. No trainer/walking boot types.
If they are shoes, they have to cover my socks.

I almost like these

I should say, they have to cover my socks at the front, I don't mind my heel showing in a mule type thing.

There are a few on Gudrun Sjoden here but not sure if anything in black, or nice enough! Could also try Fly type shoes...I find them nicely clumpy but still erm, 'elegant' iyswim!

I was going to suggest those Blundstone Chelsea boots. on the Toast link. I have been wearing them in black for about 15 years - on third pair!

For something a little different, try Conker Shoes

Also KBK Shoes.

Well, most of it actually, nice to have new sites to look through, but mostly

Conker Shoes

sites like that just suck me right in and don't let go until I own their stuff and to make matters worse, they have shoes for my children too.
