I am hoping to get to a wedding in Cornwall (We live in manchester)about 10 days after 2nd baby due. Am I being completely bonkers taking a crying bundle of fun that far? And if not-what the bloody hell can I wear? I am hoping to be breastfeeding - anyone know where you can get nice stuff with flaps?!
Thanks girls

would a wrap around style work?

I wore a wrap dress for a wedding about 3 weeks after dd was born (and was bf'ing}.

Sorry I disappeared. I think a wrap would be my best option, perhaps could wear a maternity one and have vest top underneath.
My other thought was a maxi dress, maybe a halterneck style.

I went to a wedding while BFing tiny dd1 and wore a monsoon shirt dress with a cami underneath. Unbuttoned shirt bit and hoiked up cami to feed. Worked well.

Actually - complete tangent of lovely BFing story from that wedding:

I was nervous at the wedding - all DP's posh family, most of whom I hadn't met before the wedding. In the middle of the very smart sit down meal dd got really fractious - she was tired and needed to sleep but couldn't with all the excitement. The only thing to do was BF her to sleep but there was absolutely nowhere quiet to tuck myself away and do it. Deep breath. Found a bench set slightly back from the main table. Whipped out boob and fed dd.

Noticed some glances from the aunts, uncles and grannies - they were obviously talking about me .

Half resolute that I'd done nothing wrong, but half mortified that I might have let the side down I returned to the table with sleeping dd...

... only to be greeted with big grins, pats on the back and "well dones" that "a drop of the good stuff" was what she needed! It was really lovely.

/hijack over.

As you were.

I have a similar dilemma. I'm contemplating this and a new skirt in a suitably large size.

There's also this, though I'm not sure about it for myself.

I'm not really convinced though...

I went to a wedding when dd was 3 weeks old and wore a pashmina which I could drape over dd (and me) when she fed.

I'm with themildmanneredjanitor on this one,I tried it myself with a two week old, only the drive was far less than Manchester to Cornwall and would not want to do it again.

it will be fine

the baby will sleep in the car, just allow lots of time for stopping, or travel at night. we've done liverpool - cornwall successfully by setting off at six or so, and having a lovely breakfast/brunch in Bristol.

wrap dress a good idea if not too high summer/hot. if not light cool layers and a pashmina, keep the outfit v simple and have some wicked shoes/bag and jewels. I think the maxi halter could work too.

tmmj is right to advise caution

10days after DD was born I still couldn't sit comfortably for more than about 20 mins due to tearing.

my eyes are watering just a the thought of a 5 hour car journey in that state.

I am going to a wedding about 3 weeks after my LO is due and have got myself a dark red nursing dress from www.clevermummy.co.uk/page8.htm

you might want something more summery but this suited my colouring and fits more with my pre-pg style such as it was!

Thanks for all the tips. I am nervous about going but they are really very good friends and I would hate to miss it. Also we can decline the invite very much at the last minute, so if I have a horrendous labour/feeding time then I can just stay at home and see the pics later!
