washed my down jacket/coat for the first time, tumble-dried with the tennis ball thing in a pocket and it's gone all flat!

What do I do? This doesn't look right. It's definitely dry but the padded effect has gone out of it.

well problem with these washing machine-dryers in one is you sometimes press the wrong programme. I washed it and tunble-dried it for ages but it was still flat, then I thought "oh to hell with it, I'll just keep on tumble-drying it" but switched on the wash programme by mistake so it is now re-washing the coat!

Arghh

The tennis ball should be loose in the dryer with the jacket, not in a pocket. You can just line dry down things too - you just need to make sure you give lots of shakes, and fluff up any clumps of down.

oh it should be loose?! Thanks. I didn't know that. Just had to stop the machien and take the stupid thing out of the pocket since it was being washed with the coat.

So will have another go now

When you dry the jacket, put a dry tennis ball in. A wet tennis ball will be holding a lot of water and will slow the drying process right down.

It will go fluffy again. They just take a very long time in the tumble drier. Keep shaking it about roughly to separate the feathers.

oh thanks girls. Iknow ggirl, I am such a noddy.

I am perservering with it, still doesn't look quite right but bit fluffier than it was. It takes forever, don't think I'll be buying another of these.
