Bra intervention-still the same measurements but bras too big now

I had a bra intervention about 3 years ago, and the size and bras I bought were perfect. I've lost a fair bit of weight over the past year, to the point where the I'm fastening on the tightest hook, and the cups of my bras are huge-as in the wires are stabbing me because there isn't enough boob filling them, and as for my strapless bra, it's comedy huge!

I've just measured myself using this and it's coming up with the same size 😕

Can anyone help with what to do next or what sizes to try?

I get that you've lost weight however could it just be that the bras are now stretched through general wear and tear?

I could go with that for the band, but the cups are ginormous-the strapless one is the telling one, I've only worn it maybe 10 times in total, and not since last summer till I went on holiday this year-honestly it was like a 6 year old trying on her mum's bra!😂

I didn't find that method of measuring perfect in terms of fit, but it was a lot better than the old fashioned way. My band size was smaller than I'd been wearing, but the cup size not a big as it suggested. Go and try on some bras - I'd try several different cup sizes in the band size you're currently wearing, trying smaller cup sizes. If you find a good fit, then great. If not, try a band size smaller and again try a selection of cup sizes.

Once you think you've got the right size, try several different styles, as they tend to all fit slightly differently, until you find the perfect fit.

I think that's exactly what I'm going to have to do-I must have just got lucky the last time !

If the straps are too big I find the cups don't sit right at all, they just gape. I've lost a lot of weight, and with it fullness from the top of my boobs so needed some new styles. I went to bravissimo recently and went down 2 back sizes and up one cup size, but in half cup styles.

Have you tried posting your measurements here to see if the bra gurus can help?

The cup size measurement in particular is only ever an estimate. If you've recently lost weight then it's likely that your breasts are currently a bit, em, softer Grin - the same happens post baby/breastfeeding when they can feel a bit empty for a while until they rebalance. What this can mean is that the leaning overbust measurement can, in that circumstance, overestimate a bit. On the flip side if you have someone with really solid breasts it can underestimate. It's only a guide.

Best thing to do is to use the band size the guide gives you, and start with the recommended cup size and work your way down. If you've got lots of excess space I'd probably try going down 2 cups to start with as 1 cup off is fairly subtle.

I've definitely lost fullness-and at the age of 46 am due having breast fed 2 babies...😄
So basically the skin measures the same as pre weight loss but the actual breast has gone AWOL. Please don't think I'm complaining because I really am not.
I'm going to order a good few online in different shapes and styles and see how I go from there

That's pretty much it, but having fluctuated a fair bit myself you might find that even if the size doesn't increase back up, once you've been stable for a while they might seem to 'reinflate' as the skin adjusts and the fat deposits redistribute. In the meantime if they are empty at the top then half cups or proper balconettes (with wide necklines) will probably suit best, as taller bras might gape at the top but be full at the bottom

Statistically that's exactly what's happening-I can just about get a fist in the top part of the cups! NOT a good look 🙄
