Has M£S finally listened??

Went into my local M&S today and they've done a bit of a re-jig. All of per Una had gone!

All the coats are now in the one section, ditto the jeans. lots of tops together not scattered about, some of the brands like Limited were still there but in smaller sections. Just seemed a bit easier to find things than before.

I do think they are starting to listen. Not perfect yet, but at least they are doing more stuff in cotton, and some better colours than the usual vile pastels.

Mine has also been reorganised. I don't shop for clothes there (I'm a funny old shape) but I did see my favourite registers have been closed down. Grrr!

Mine was still as hideous as ever last Friday. A huge section of Per Una as well. About a 1/4 of the floor space of a massive flagship store was full of Per Una crap.

Hardly any customers in too.

There was an article in a newspaper a couple of weeks ago where someone said m&s needed to stop having all the little competing shops/sections. May have been Caitlin Moran??

To be honest I always quite liked it as I felt some sections were aimed at different age ranges so knew which ones to avoid.

Shall visit the next time I go shopping... It can hardly be worse.

Funny, I was in yesterday and I thought "I should start a MN thread". I was in quite a big store and I was really impressed by the tops especially. Nice soft fabrics, non garish but interesting prints, good stuff for work. Was just in to collect an order so didn't have a long look, but think I'll be back!

Same here. Well they haven't got rid of Per Una or Classic but they have a whole section for Autograph now as opposed to a couple of rails. Maybe they heard me moaning! I've also seen quite a few things I like in their autumn stuff so credit where it's due.

I dread to think which section you'd have consigned me to but I'll move on Grin

There was an advert on the tv today, I really thought it was George at Asda or maybe matalan. Nope - M&S but so badly styled that the clothes looked really cheap. And the soundtrack was uptown funk, which is surely very very 2015?

wowfudge · 09/09/2016 17:06

George started Per Una though didn't he?

Anyway - I've always found decent stuff in M&S. With the exception of PU which I'm amazed anyone actually likes.

Tbh I wouldn't recognise uptown funk if it slapped me around the head with a wet M&S bra.

Yes they have rejigged my store too. I couldn't find the limited collection and indigo ranges that used to be at the front of the store. Per una was definitely in its usual spot though.

I saw some really horrible ruffled jumpers but apparently they are the latest thing according to the magazines I read in the hairdressers this week.

But I'm not looking for a cool soundtrack when I go to M&S! I'm just looking for clothes I can wear to work, go out for a drink in afterwards without feeling like an arse then stick in the washing machine.

Per Una is a franchise part, believe it or not. Maybe some stores are changing that aspect of their store space

Mine has also had a rejig in the past week and as Flo mentioned a much larger Autograph section. Quite a few nicer bits and not so many garish patterns apart from Per Una, that I thought was worse than ever.

What do you mean it's a franchise?

Mil likes per una. A lot of what she buys goes back the next week.

Just had a browse. There are a couple of things I really like.

And then there are these. I may well have nightmares tonight.

I HATE the M&S magazine ads where they take some poor soul and restyle her to look god awful - the smiley curvy lady they stick in an oversized navy school skirt and make her where is a dress, the woman they put in sandals but don't bother to shout her a pedicure and the bank manager they make go to work in a pleather skirt & Jean jacket. Does anybody else know the ones I mean?

I hope they do ours. Half the shop is bloody per una.

All I want from m&s is knitwear and Tops in nice colours without fussy shit. Underwear. Work Trousers in stock in a size other than an 18 short or an 8 extra, extra long. In fact workwear in general, they hardly have any now, and when they do it's not together so you have to hunt down a matching jacket or skirt.

Lambzig · 09/09/2016 22:48

Hmm, not convinced. I went into the flagship at Marble Arch this week to buy underwear for the DC (which obviously they didn't have any of in their sizes - because why would you bother to stock childrens staples). I had half an hour before meeting a friend for dinner. The shop looked scruffy, empty, they had none of the 4-5 items I wanted a look at after seeing them online, and a couple of things that looked OK on the dummy's didn't seem to be in stock. I won't bother going in there again.
