4 More Sleeps With Droopy Eyelids

I'm having a blepharoplasty and brow lift next week. I've got hereditary saggy eyelids which I've had since my 20s. They're now encroaching on my vision. I also have a crevice between my eyebrows, again since my 20s (now mid to late 40s). That's going to be filled with some fat from my thighs. The blepharoplasty will only address 50% of my problem though. So I am having a brow lift too (I just knew I wouldn't be a straightforward case). There are several types depending on hairline/thickness of scars/if you have a fringe etc. I've done so much research, into my surgeon, the procedures, the complications. I've been to see my surgeon twice with a list of questions. I'm swinging from mad excitement to bag of nerves. But ultimately I know I want to have it done, and the sagging/loss of vision will only get worse. My surgeon was brilliant and I understand that the issues are mainly because of the structure of my face rather than any lifestyle effects.

Anyone had any of these procedures? (I'm not looking to be talked out of the surgery btw. I don't want to look 10 years younger; I'm just sick of walking around looking and feeling knackered and angry).

Ooh that's very interesting - do come back to say how you got on?

I have hereditary under eye bags. I've always had them (thanks, mum!) and I always look knackered, grumpy and doubly shit in photos. I've wondered about surgery. No impact on my vision.

Have you a fringe? How long have you been pondering / planning the op?

Best of luck.

Please let us know how it goes. My DM has extremely saggy eyelids that make her look half-asleep, and I have recently noticed with alarm that mine are starting to droop too, so I would love to know how your surgery goes.

Wishing you all the best.

OP I had a blepheroplasty 11 days ago. I'd thought about it for years and I'm so glad I had it done. The downtime wasn't as bad as I thought either. I had my stitches out on Thursday and I feel fairly back to normal. The bruising went down really quickly. The scars are a little raised in places and I'm still using my antibiotic gel but my eyelids are perfect, not too much taken away as to change my look which I was worried about, but enough to make a difference. Hope all goes well for you, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

I don't have a fringe. I've tried but just doesn't suit me\my hair type. In fact I think it brought more attention to my saggy eyelids. I do have lots and lots of hair though. I've been thinking about the surgery for a few years but only seriously this year.

Good for you august. I wish I could just have the eyelids done but my brows are really sagging too. He is going to give me more of an eyebrow arch too as mine have become very flat. I literally feel as if my face is sliding towards the floor! Will keep you posted.

Wholia yes, please keep us posted!! I'd had years of Botox and my eyebrows were so raised I looked permanently surprised Grin The blepheroplasty has lowered them and i look more natural now. Good luck Smile

Thanks august. I've never had botox - it wouldn't really help with my issues. Glad you are pleased with your outcome. I'm wondering where you are - I'm in the south east...

All done. Even in recovery I was taken aback by how improved my vision is! Surgeon said it went well. Quite sore; ice cream headache but without the ice cream :(

Even though I look horrific I can see my eyelids! It's amazing :)

I too have a friend who had an eyelid lift. Looks great and not obviously 'done' either. I reckon I'll have it done at some point - maybe another year or 2. Did you have it done under general or local?

I had a general as I needed a brow lift (see original post. On phone and in pain and can't be arsed to type it out again lol) and my big old crevice filled. Amazed at the difference already even with all the swelling.

TheSpottedZebra try tear trough fillers for under eye bags. It's amazing. I only had dark circles and it's worked a treat on those!

Well done you! I'm hoping to do the same thing in a few years. Apart from looking angry, it's effecting my vision too. I hope you're thrilled with the results.

Hello everyone,

Been a traumatic few days! Lots and lots of bruising and swelling - as to be expected but it's still shock when you look like you've been mugged. The bruising is subsiding. The swelling is literally moving down my face and now I look like a bunny. It's very odd, not looking like myself. BUT, the eyes are looking good and the dink in my forehead has pretty much gone.

It's been quite brutal though, and I'm still taking round the clock pain meds. Have felt quite down at times, but each day now I seem to be feeling a little better.

Good luck! Please let us know about the recovery. I'll be getting mine done sooner rather than later!!!

Glad it went well OP!

Please give us another update after all the swelling has gone!
