Skincare as good as Clinique?

I am in my late-twenties, so want to start a skincare regime. I have heard and seen great things with Clinique, but I won't use them because they're tested on animals.

What alternatives are there?

As far as I'm aware none of the above test on animals. As I understand it any company that sells in China is legally obliged to test their products on animals, even if they don't test on animals in Europe.
